Between June 10-16, 2009: Over the past two weeks, the Department of Education (DOE) Secretary Arne Duncan has announced several American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding opportunities for states. The money will help create jobs and spur education reform, including:
- $60 million for Washington, DC schools
- $363 million for Connecticut schools
- $1 billion for Ohio schools
- $509 million for Colorado schools
- $681 million for Arizona schools
- $1 billion for Michigan schools
- $301 million for Kansas schools

What this means for employers? Educators and businesses supporting education (such as publishers, educational consultants, curriculum developers, trainers, computer programmers) will benefit from the release of these funds. The funds will be distributed to the states to pass along to local education agencies.
